The lack of condom culture in Libya causes significant health problems on the LGBT community

The high rate of sexually transmitted diseases recently due to the lack of condom culture and the reason for the lack of sex education in general in Libya, because of the belief that talking in sexual matters is taboo and contrary to customs and traditions. This in turn led to the fact that society in general and young people in particular became afraid of simply asking about STDs, and it is a shame to talk about

If we look at other communities where the health centers are specialized in matters of sexuality and sexually transmitted diseases, we find that the prevalence of these diseases has become very small

Here comes our role as an awareness media platform to disseminate ideas that will reduce the spread of these diseases.

What’s a condom?

It is a rubber cover that fits the size of the penis and covers it, and its function is to prevent sperm from reaching the vagina or anus.

How does condoms look like?

The condom looks like a small, cylindrical rubber bag, the texture of the condom is soft and gentle so that sexual pleasure is not adversely affected while using it, at the end there is a closed nipple to collect semen when ejaculating.

Condoms have different sizes, types and shapes it may be made of latex, polyurethane or sheep skin you can get it with or without lubricating oil sometimes it may contain spermicide.

You can also buy condoms with a certain flavor or color it may be polygonal to increase pleasure during intimacy.

Easy to use, it may help men maintain an erection for an abundance of lengths, Lightweight and easy to get rid of after use, Easy to get – can be purchased at most pharmacies without the need for health advice or prescription.

What’s the use of condom?

Prevents pregnancy by preventing sperm from reaching the vagina, you can use it to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases when you have sex, Please keep in mind that the use of- condoms does not completely protect against sexually transmitted diseases – part of the penis is not covered by condoms.

Pull your penis out of the condom before relaxation, and before it returns to normal size before erection
Hold the condom from its base, while pulling the penis so that the semen does not leak, Wrap the condom in tissue paper and throw it away in the trash, do not get rid of condoms in the toilet.

How to take care of condom?

  • Store the condom in a cool, dry place
  • Avoid keeping it in the back pocket of your pants, wallet or any tray for long periods of time because heat can harm it
  • When using latex condoms, use lubricants that have a water base rather than oil.

Safe lubricants for all types of condoms are:

  • Astroglide, Glycerol
  • K-Y slip-type gel, Non-slip silicone,
  • Water, Saliva.

Unsafe lubricants that can’t go with condoms that are made of latex are:
Baby Oils, Butter, Cream, Body Moisturizer, Massage Oil, Mineral Oils, Vaseline.

How many times can you use a condom?

It’s very simple, each time you’re having sex, use a new one.

How much does it cost?

It goes from 5 to 10 LYD, depends on the amount of pieces in it, and we recommend using the products of the company (Durex)

Advices to protect yourself from any STDs

  • Make condoms a basic habit
  • Get tested (every six months)
  • When you feel vulnerable to infection immediately rush to the nearest center specialized in transmitted diseases (National Center for Disease Control)
